(Guitar INTRO)
(Strings + Bass BEGIN)
I walked in
Looked at him
And, his questioning eyes
A glass with rocks
And, some scotch
And, his undressing mind
All I have is feelings
That wrap me to safety
When I am held down
My ways are shown
Only my shadows
Break through the trap
A trap I am into
A cult I am into
Your hands, I need to break free
(Drums BEGIN)
(Guitar SOLO)
Hey!
Do your thing
And, walk away
Don’t treat me with kindness
‘Cause I, I am bittersweet
Flesh and bone
Cut and dry
I now own you!
(Instrumental BREAK)
(INSTRUMENTAL CRESCENDO OVER VOCALS BELOW)
Make your noise
Take a breath
There’s still time
But, there’s no return
Choose your turn
Choose your side
When the time has come
Don’t step back, but forwards
Breathe in to breathe out
Unwrap those feelings
Only to myself
‘Cause when I look into the mirror
I need to see myself in it
You can buy me and take me away
But, you will never own me
(Guitar SOLO)
(Guitar + Strings DUAL)
Hey!
Do your thing
And, walk away
Don’t treat me with kindness
‘Cause I, I am bittersweet
Flesh and bone
Cut and dry
I now own you!
You are mine!
I own you!
I now own you!
(Instruments STOP)
(Guitar FADE OUT)

i like this. sometimes kindness is not that what we need... sometimes the harsh reflection is better.
well done as usual Aj.. I do love the feeling of someone owning me BUT in bitter sweet ways, not where I am trapped or feel trapped, unable to be me, or to feel owned in a sweet loving way.
I was owned in that way at a young age, when it was good it was great, but to be held down, back, scared is not love, so I choose NOT to be owned.
Oh, to be free of a voice that claims to own and therefore to control. You have me thinking of how many times and in how many ways we surrender, allowing ourselves to be owned.
Hi AJ,
This is such an intriguing song...I can certainly feel and experience the power of ownership and possession. Amazing writing as always.
This is amazing stuff...that possession and the owning...nice composition.
@SHadow - True! Thank you.
@Inky - Same here. I choose not to be owned. Thanks!
@Sandy - Hmm.
@The Write Girl - Thanks!
@Scribbling girl - Thanks!
