Ashtray

The smoke fills the room
Your eyes
They pain
They twinkle
For the wrong reasons

The smoke fogs the vision

The smoke clogs your decision

It is time to tap it

Breathe in to breathe out

Breathe out to breathe in

Could not take the leap of faith

But, I took a drag

To the end

This heart is now an ashtray

Eye

You cannot look me in the eye
You cannot look me in the eye
You cannot look me in the eye
You cannot look me in the eye

With every breathe
You say goodbye
You say hello
With every breathe

With every day
Comes a new memory
Comes a possible destiny
With every day

Catch the melody
When you can
Let it ring, let it swing
When you can

I cannot look you in the eye
I cannot look you in the eye
I cannot look you in the eye
I cannot look you in the eye

When you try
When you cry
When you lie
When you die

I see it in the eye

Let me look at you
Let me look at you
Let me look at you
Let me look at you

With the eyes from another

Clouds in the water

That secret bird
Chirpers
The eternal truth
On the old pine tree

Pleading innocence
In those round eyes
That longs for the full-moon

The thin sunlight
The thick chills
Another year is gone

Cloud after cloud
The water frees from the ice
Into a stream, she then smiles

Sunrise rises to awake
Breaking from the reeds
The stream’s now dripping red

With a spring in her step
Ducks quack on the lake
They see clouds in the water

Scarecrow

The first greeting
For the day
Comes from the crow

Frightening the sun
The wind, and the leaves
It stands strong

It gave her company
In the fields of green
Precious scarecrow, he leans, but never sits

Under the moon
The scarecrow is bored
But, he stands with the pain in his legs

The cruel unforgiving winds
Of winter
Whitens the sleeves of the scarecrow

Pointing at the empty field
He knows not where summer has gone
He feels warm, because she’s there

The scarecrow bows
To the end of the funeral
And, awaits the new child

Insects fly
They cry
Where once the scarecrow stood

With the end
The scarecrow grows longer
But, then, the shadow declines

Without the scarecrow
The field is lonely

She dreamt
She dreamt she was alone
She dreamt she was alone in an empty field
But, she wasn’t
