Until the end

(Piano INTRO)
(All instruments begin)
(Bass Bridge)

One more day
Just for another day
Give Him a reason to stay

The love in your eyes
As you see, my eyes cry
And, you tell me everything will be all right

Nothing will be the same
Nothing will be all right
Don’t see the brightest ray
Stay for one more day

(Piano + Flute Duo Solo)
(Drum fill)

The distance that we had
Not any more, I’m glad
That’s the past that didn’t last
And, faded fast

The distance that we had
Is because of me, my dad
So, if you got to blame someone
Let it be me

Nothing will be the same
Nothing will be all right
Don’t see the brightest ray
Stay here forever and ever

(Drum fill)
(Instrumental Bridge)

Remember all those days
You promised you would stay
Be there to pick me up when I’m down

You’re the one who told me
You wouldn’t ever leave me
Until the end

You’d swallow the poison
To feed me with the nectar
Stay!!!

(Guitar solo)
(Guitar + Piano Duo Bridge)

Nothing will be the same
Nothing will be all right
I’ll hide you from the brightest ray
Please, stay for one more day

You know what really frustrates me most? It's in not hearing the music!!! Arrrrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!

So, I hope you can send me a complimentary copy of your songs mate! I'm serious! I want to hear them! Sing them and play them! (of course, I don't play an instrument, but, I'd pretend to do so)

You are a good son in saying "Give Him a reason to stay."
How cool is that? Fitting for a father's day tribute or a song for a mother who wants to leave her husband. Or a son who longs for his dad's affection. Or of a son finally reconnecting with his mom. There are so many levels to this song. I hope I understood it right.

@zorlone - Yes, sure, when I do so, I will send you a copy.

Thanks for understanding the emotions behind this one.

This was intense... A connect which is rarely found today... I loved this...

Somewhere in the beginning I felt it was for a lover, then it came as for Dad...

Fits perfect for any relation in a way...

bravo AJ... this song touches the heart..

powerful lines etched with love:

"Stay for one more day"
"Stay here forever and ever"
"Stay!!!"
"Please, stay for one more day"
"You’d swallow the poison
To feed me with the nectar"
"Don’t see the brightest ray"
"I’ll hide you from the brightest ray"

That's the most beautiful love story between a dad and son.

"Is because of me my dad", I guess there should be a small pause after "me".

Your parents are lucky AJ. You know actually some of these scenes I experience now with my son. One moment we are close, the next he is distant, but now I know it happens to everyone and just wish for a time, when nothing stands between us except love.. Thank you for sharing...yes, i would really love to hear this with music.

When Jennifer confirmed the date this morning, I felt you would release this song.

Mate, I hope you are all right. By the way, did you make the call? I just did.

About the song, well, strictly considering your age during the time you wrote it, it was quite mature coming from you at the time.

Take care.

Opaque said...

@Linda - Thank you. I take from inspiration from anything that comes my way.

Opaque said...

@zendagi - Yes, it suits any honest relationship. Thanks.

Opaque said...

@Viji - Thanks for pointing that out. And, thanks for understanding.

Opaque said...

@J - Yes, I did make the call before leaving for work.

Thanks mate. Yes, I realize it isn't perfect, but certainly written from the heart.

I am fine, thanks for asking.

Beautiful, skinless, honest and, therefore, truly touching!

These lines sums up the feeling I get from your lyric:

"You’d swallow the poison
To feed me with the nectar
Stay!!!"

Thanks for sharing this!

@Make Me Disappear - Np worries, I appreciate you finding time from your busy schedule to comment for my songs.

Thanks for understanding as well. Umm, yes, the theme and style is still the same as in the album this song belongs to. But, yes, the story is different.

@Shadow - Thanks.

The words sounded somewhat ambiguous! The repent that nothing will be the same again gives a connotation while "Give him a reason to stay" implies another. Again Dad gives me an impression of the day to day interactions between a papa and his son. Apparently the words flow fluidly to the point that they echo personal feelings. But deep down I have a sensation that they mean something deeper. Maybe this is just a reflection of your nature, or is it something else? Is everything all right?

Opaque said...

@Diya - Thanks for reading.

loaded with emotions...intense and dark...Enjoyed it but would have enjoyed it more had it been little less ambiguous.
Keep writing!!

Opaque said...

@dreamer - Ambiguous?! Thanks for reading.

Dorothi said...

Yes, it isn't ambiguous......sorry in the previous read I just rushed through it....
brilliant!!....I now know why you titled it as "Until the end"...The song is perhaps inspired by father-son relationship...Father is perhaps on the verge of death and the son prays for him to stay and the brightest ray is perhaps the supposed ray from heaven that one sees after death....
Keep writing!!

Opaque said...

@dreamer - Thanks for understanding.

I love that. That's what lovers do, isn't it? Promise. And belief, too, sometimes. I think promises like this should be kept.

As I started reading the verses I felt it was an individual asking a loved one to stay and not go away from his/her life; never did I get the hint (until I reached the second part) that it was about a relationship striving to revived; the relationship between a father and son.

Why is that most of us realize the worth of something or someone so special when it is too late? It's almost a cliche now that every other person has to say "You realize the worth of someone/something when they are not with you". Nice to see that the son has finally returned to reconcile and is wishing that he get a chance to amend the wrongdoings. I truly wish that everyone who truly desires to set things right be given a chance to do so. But not everyone is blessed with such an opportunity, are they?
