Winter Goodbye

This song is written/co-edited with my good friend Rick John (One Big Love)

Read our first successful effort here - I stay awake

(Guitar Strokes + Bass w/o Drums)

You tell me to go
Your eyes
They say
Far, far away
And, you tell me as
You hide your tears
“Take care and
Be well”

But, I wonder

(Piano begins w/o Drums)

Why should I
Take care of myself
For whom should I
Take care of myself
And, why should you
Bear the shame and
Hide the pain
That leaving knows

(Drums Begin - OVERLAPPING VOCALS)
I worry Love

(DUAL VOCALS)
In August laughter
Can you live without me?
Now and hereafter (OVERLAPPING Drum Fill)
If I go
Away from you now
Will your heart let go
And, can it be free?
Yea
Can it ever be free?

(Guitar Bridge)
(Drums Fill)

I've lived for you
You’ve lived for me
I see your eyes
They look for me
In places
In other faces

And, I know
Without me
You'll die
And, I’ll die
Without you

(Instrumental Bridge)
(Drums Fill)
(HIGH-PITCH)
I'm dying already
Can't you see?

Can't we bear Winter?
That April might find us and
Chase the cold from our soul
Bringing summer’s easy warmth
To wash away goodbye

(HIGH-PITCH)
I'm dying already
Can't you see?

(Drums Fill)
(DUAL VOCALS)
In August laughter
Can you live without me?
Now and hereafter (OVERLAPPING Drum Fill)
If I go
Away from you now
Will your heart let go
Will it be free?
Yea
Will it ever be free?

Without me
you'll die and
So will I
I'm dying already!
Can't you see?

Come save me, my love
You’re my angel, my love

(DUAL VOCALS)
In August laughter
Can you live without me?
Now and hereafter (OVERLAPPING Drum Fill)
If I go
Away from you now
Will your heart let go
Will it be free?
Tell me love
Can it ever be free?

(REPEAT – FADE OUT)

(Alternate title - You tell me)

could it get any better??? i don't think so. perfect!

The lyrics has a personal touch to me as of late. Very touching and emotional.

With words like these, why do you have to use drums? Notes are Rock? I personally would prefer just piano accompaniment. More for sentimental reason.

(I had been into medical field too, but did not get a chance to practice it here. But it sounds you are happy outside dentistry.) :)

@Viji - Thank you!

@Shadow - Ah, thanks!!!

@Bonnie - Ah, yes I thought of the same instrumentation too. But, since I was desperate to add a soft rock element to it, like the last one, I added drums.

Yea, I am glad with what I am doing right now.

Thanks you!!!

I must write that it is quite rarely I get to read something soft from you. Well, this particular one is a collaboration going uphill.

A decently good one. The last one was good as well. The similar mood-set exists in this song too.

Good luck!

Opaque said...

@J - Thanks mate. Yea, something soft to neutralize the otherwise intense and dark effect.

Very poignant and beautiful!

The "drum add" is a contrast that complements the delicateness of the words and the piano.

I am a big fan of these sorts of contrasts. :)

Hey Ajey,

A brilliant collaboration here. Like the last time, "No different, yet one of it's kind"

It's simple, and touching, beautifully narrated.

P.S The original title is better.

Kudos to both you you.

This is a wonderful penning down of separation Ajey, it indeed pains. But if it really does then why do people separate?...

Opaque said...

@Diya - Thanks a lot!!! People separate for many reasons.

Hey AJ,

Separation is difficult. Specially with someone you truly love.

I thought you'll end this one with them being together, I guess it happened only during the time they said goodbye.

Nicely done man!

Z

Opaque said...

@zorlone - Well, we decided to end it like this to make it less common than it would otherwise be.

Thanks!!!
